Wapda Chairman Naveed Asghar Chaudhry has revealedPakistan has started taking countermeasures after India threatens to cut off Pakistan’s water supply.

He was speaking in Aaj News’ Rubaru programme, which will be broadcast tonight at 8 pm.

The Wapda chairman said that a new dam will be constructed on the Chenab River to store water so that an effective response can be given to India’s water aggression.

He added that the new dam will be constructed near the Chiniot district, and it will not only help increase water storage capacity but will also ensure national water security.

Naveed Chaudhry said that Wapda is working to protect the country’s water resources, adding that in the prevailing regional conditions, the construction of new dams has become inevitable.

It should be noted that India is committing serious violations of the Indus Waters Treaty, over which Pakistani authorities have expressed serious concern.
