Assistant commissioner, tehsildar among 5 killed in Bajaur blast
A powerful bomb blast in Bajaur’s Khar tehsil on Tuesday claimed the lives of five people, including Assistant Commissioner Faisal Ismail and Tehsildar Abdul Wakeel.
The blast targeted a government vehicle near the Siddiqabad railway crossing on the Nawagai Road, leaving 16 others injured.
District Police Officer Waqas Rafiq confirmed that the explosion was so intense that the official vehicle was completely destroyed.
Among the martyrs were Constable Zahid and passerby Fazal Manan, who died on the spot. Sub-inspector Noor Hakim, who sustained critical injuries, passed away while being shifted to Peshawar.
The injured were shifted to Khar Hospital, while four critically injured were shifted to Peshawar.
Meanwhile, the CCTV footage of the deadly explosion near the Assistant Commissioner’s vehicle has been obtained by Aaj News, offering crucial insights into the attack.
Funeral prayers offered
The funeral prayers for the martyrs, including the assistant commissioner, were held at Police Lines in Civil Colony Khar. The funeral prayers were attended by Deputy Commissioner Bajaur Shahid Ali, DPO Waqas Rafiq, Commandant Bajaur Scouts, senior government officials, relatives of the martyrs, and a large number of local residents.
Security has been tightened in the area following the attack, and an investigation is underway to locate the perpetrators behind the bombing.
