Pak-India tensions: Citizens return home via Wagah, face hardships
Amid escalating tensions between Pakistan and India, the repatriation of citizens from both countries continues, with 236 Pakistanis returning from India and 115 Indian nationals heading back home through the Wagah Border.
Following the recent strain, sparked by a self-engineered terrorism incident blamed by India, visa cancellations by both governments have forced the affected citizens to return.
Many have voiced frustration, stating that premature actions without thorough investigations cause unnecessary hardship for ordinary people.
The incident, which has brought the two nuclear-armed neighbours dangerously close to conflict, has also strained people-to-people contacts. Citizens remarked that whenever relations begin to improve, such “fabricated incidents” derail the peace process and increase hostilities.
