Federal Minister for Planning, Ahsan Iqbal, has accused PTI founder Imran Khan of embezzling Rs64 billion from Pakistan’s poor.

Speaking at a public gathering in Narowal after inaugurating a road, Iqbal criticised PTI supporters for demanding their leader’s release, questioning, “How can they even ask for his freedom after this massive financial scandal?”

Iqbal claimed that every time PML-N’s government is removed, Pakistan faces economic and political disaster.

He criticised Khan’s leadership, stating that an inexperienced politician was handed the keys to the country and only realised later how governance actually works.

“Pakistan is not a driving school where someone learns on the job,” he remarked.

The minister further alleged that during Khan’s four-year tenure, Pakistan’s economy was wrecked, national unity was shattered, and the country became an international laughingstock.

He accused Khan of calling others thieves and demanding accountability but failing to provide receipts when questioned about his own financial dealings.

According to Iqbal, the Rs64-billion corruption scandal involving Imran Khan would be unforgivable in any democratic nation.

“Neither America nor the UK would forgive such a crime, and neither will the people of Pakistan,” he asserted.

He added that in the West, a leader involved in such financial misconduct would not be able to face the public.

Mocking PTI’s current stance, Iqbal said, “How can they shamelessly ask for their leader’s release? Have they forgotten Sheikh Rashid’s words when he admitted that if PTI had remained in power, people would have pelted them with stones?”

Iqbal’s strong remarks come amid growing political tensions, as PTI supporters continue to push for Imran Khan’s release despite the allegations against him.
