MARDAN: Unidentified attackers shot dead two police personnel who were deployed for the security of a polio workers team near Rustam Bridge in Mardan on Wednesday.

The dead bodies of both the policemen were shifted to DHQ Hospital.

Police have launched a search operation in the area to hunt down the attackers. The martyred personnel were identified as Syed Ali Raza Shah and Shakir.

The five-day anti-polio campaign started on June 7, 2021 and is likely to continue during the week. This country-wide drive is targeting 124 districts where over 33 million children up to five years of age will be vaccinated. NNI
