The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) on Monday announced the expulsion of Senator Ahmad Khan from the party for voting in favour of the 27th Constitutional Amendment in the Senate.

According to a party statement, Senator Ahmad Khan was expelled for violating the party’s policy by supporting the amendment, which was passed amid opposition uproar.

The statement said the senator has been directed to immediately resign from his seat in the Upper House of Parliament.

“If he does not tender his resignation, the party will approach the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to seek his disqualification,” it added.

The JUI-F said the decision was made on the recommendations of Senators Maulana Attaur Rehman and Maulana Abdul Wasey.
